Announcing the Inaugural Bill Squires Memorial Golf Tournament
Blackfoot, Montana Tech and the Squires family are pleased to announce the inaugural Bill Squires Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament will take place Friday, September 22, at the Missoula Country Club.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used for the William (Bill) A Squires Legacy Endowment fund at Montana Tech. Bill grew up in Butte, and was a graduate of Montana Tech with a B.S. in Chemistry (1984) and of The University of Montana School of Law (J.D., 1987). He remained engaged with both Alma maters. In 1995, Bill was awarded a Distinguished Alumni award from Montana Tech.
Squires served as the Chief Executive Officer of Blackfoot, leading the company through growth and expanded opportunities. He was a prominent leader in the telecommunications industry, serving in a variety of leadership roles in state and national industry associations. He served as a director of CoBank, Syringa Networks, Alaska Power & Telephone, Missoula Economic Partnership and Vision Net, Inc., and as co-chair of Governor Steve Bullock’s Broadband Key Industry Network committee.
Blackfoot Chief Executive Officer, Jason Williams, acknowledged Squires’ legacy, “This tournament will be a wonderful opportunity for Bill’s friends to gather to share and honor his memory while at the same time raising funds to support education, something to which he was deeply committed.”

“The William (Bill) A Squires Legacy Endowment fund will create permanent impact for Montana Tech students and faculty. The earnings from the endowment will be used to support areas that were near and dear to Bill’s heart such as business student scholarships and faculty research in high-tech related areas,” said Luke Meyer, Montana Tech Foundation Director of Development. “This endowment will be a reflection of Bill’s work ethic and desire to make a difference by supporting like-minded Montana Tech students and faculty that demonstrate hard work and leadership abilities. We look forward to teaming up with Blackfoot to honor Bill and make this memorial golf tournament a success.” |
