Blackfoot Connects Students to Music Education, Thanks to the Missoula Symphony
The Missoula Symphony Orchestra’s annual Family Concert is tonight at the Dennison Theater on The University of Montana campus. This year’s theme is “Rumble in the Jungle” and Blackfoot is pleased to be the inaugural premier sponsor of the concert which started in 2006 to introduce youngsters and their families to classic orchestral music.
The popular evening concert is an encore performance of a day program funded in part by the Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation. The daytime performances are attended by busloads of fourth grade students from Missoula and surrounding rural community schools, including some of Blackfoot’s service areas, Philipsburg, Clinton, St. Regis and Drummond. Students are treated to the one hour educational concert for free.
Missoula Symphony Orchestra Executive Director, John Driscoll, recently thanked Blackfoot for their support. “Blackfoot has been a wonderful community partner and we deeply value the relationship and support we’ve received since the very beginning of the family concert. It’s been a huge success, selling out every year, and we couldn’t do it without Blackfoot.”
