Blackfoot Communications Celebrates National Co-op Month

Blackfoot Communications proudly celebrates National Cooperative Month this October, embracing the 2024 theme, “The Future is Cooperative.” This special month provides an opportunity to reaffirm our dedication to building stronger, more connected communities for future generations.

In 1954 Blackfoot Communications was founded by ranchers near Clinton, Montana, as a telephone cooperative. As we mark our 70th year, we reflect on our rich cooperative heritage with pride. Laura Maedche, our Customer Operations Manager, highlights, “As we commemorate our 70th anniversary, we continue to give back to the communities we serve and to be accountable to our growing membership. Today, we have more than 16,000 member-owners who rely on us for cutting edge services for their homes and businesses. I am excited about the future of Blackfoot as we continue to invest in fiber infrastructure to ensure our communities have access to reliable, top-notch connectivity”

Cooperatives are a key part of Montana’s economy and a cornerstone of rural communities. Throughout our state’s history, local cooperatives have been key players in driving economic development. Blackfoot is a member of the Montana Cooperative Development Center and proudly supports other local cooperatives.
