Blackfoot Communications Donates to Local YWCA Programs

October is National Cooperative Month!

This year’s theme is “Cooperatives Commit: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”. We can’t think of a better way to kick off the month than to highlight our significant donation to the Missoula YWCA!

We are pleased to announce a $50,000 contribution to the new Meadowlark family facility that will house the new “Blackfoot Communications Empowerment Area”. Blackfoot is a longtime supporter of the YWCA; in particular the GUTS and GRIT programs that serve many of our rural youth.

Donation creates ‘Blackfoot Communications Empowerment Area’ at the new Meadowlark family center

Blackfoot Communications, the Montana-based technology service provider, announced a $50,000 donation through the See Them Home fundraising campaign to support the construction of the new Meadowlark family center and local YWCA programs.

The Girls Using Their Strength (GUTS) and Girls Representing In Trade (GRIT) youth education programs are designed by and for young women, and are focused on empowering program members to discover their own personal values and strengths through wilderness adventures in the summer, as well as after-school groups and community service projects during the academic year.

Cindy Weese, executive director of the YWCA thanked Blackfoot for their support, saying:

“We are very fortunate to have the support of the Blackfoot team to help us achieve our fundraising goal for our new housing and domestic violence shelter and for their partnership in youth education programs. We will be able to make a significant impact in the lives of many thanks to the generosity of Blackfoot.”

As a long-time supporter of YWCA Missoula, its mission and programs, the donation from Blackfoot supports the construction of the new Meadowlark family center and will create the ‘Blackfoot Communications Empowerment Area’ which will host the GUTS and GRIT programs.

Jason Williams, CEO of Blackfoot Communications:

“On behalf of our trustees and our employees, we are thrilled to lend our support to these new programs. YWCA Missoula continues to educate, enhance and enrich our local youth through these unique opportunities, which serve as important foundations as our youth continue their journeys to adulthood.”
